Afro-Asiatisches Institut Salzburg is taking applications for the AAI Salzburg Grants Scholarships for scholars from developing nations for the 2021/22 academic session.

Eligibility for AAI Salzburg Grants Scholarships

  • nationality of a non-European developing nation

  • postgraduate study programmes (“Lehrgänge”, e.g. “Universitätslehrgang” or “Fachhochschullehrgang”) or other non-degree certificate programs
  • distance learning/blended learning study programs without mandatory attendance in Austria
  • candidates  with a residence title other than “student”
  • non-degree programe students (“außerordentliche Studierende“)
  • short term visits and exchange programmes

For your application to be successful, it has to reflect

  • Financial need: The student’s income, savings, other means of support, profession, and income of parents are considered in order to select students who would hardly be able to successfully finish their studies without financial support.
  • Evidence of good progress in studies: Your study progress should be documented by a transcript of records of current and past studies. In programs without entry exams, scholars who have already finished a minimum of one semester at an Austrian university have a unique advantage.
  • Interest in development in line with specialization in studies: Potential awardees are required to show a strong interest in development-associated issues, which is intended to be reflected in the preference of study fields, prior work experience, voluntary undertakings, etc.

How to Apply for AAI Salzburg Grants Scholarships

  • After your application has been evaluated, you will be called for an online interview.
  • The decision is reached by the scholarship panel in mid-August. You will be notified about the decision not long after.
